"The Last Word" Campaign launched by Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX)

At the School Board Meeting of September 7, 2011, School Board Chair Perla Tabares Hantman announced that the National Teen Driver Safety Week, scheduled for the Week of October 16 - 22, 2011, is quickly approaching. In preparation, the School District is working with its transportation partners to make this year’s event a true success. This year, Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX) is assisting by launching “The Last Word” Campaign to discourage cell phone use while driving. MDX will distribute pledge sheets and green string at various schools encouraging students and faculty to take the "Pledge to Drive Safely"

Miami-Dade Expressway Authority Pledge Rally

Designed for grades 9 through 12

Launch during National Teen Safe Driving Week, October 16 - 22,  2011

Students will learn about the importance of safe driving and the perils of distracted driving.

The teens are then challenged to an individual competition to see who can get the most pledges to not text and drive by the end of the week (Friday). For each pledge collected, they get a green string tied around their wrist. For instance, a student who gets 100 pledges, gets 100 green strings around their wrist.
