It’s important - The U.S. Constitution requires a headcount every ten
years of all persons living in the United States. This includes people of all
ages, ethnic groups, citizens and non-citizens. Our nation is now preparing
for the next census that will take place in 2010.
Participation by everyone in our community is critical, as Census results
determine how Congressional representation is apportioned. In addition,
approximately $400 billion in federal funds are distributed annually to state
and local areas based on population counts.
It’s safe - By law, the Census Bureau cannot share your answers with anyone, including other
federal agencies and law enforcement entities.
All Census Bureau employees take an oath of nondisclosure and are sworn for life to protect
the confidentiality of the data.
It’s easy - In just 10 minutes, you can make a difference. One of the shortest census forms in
history, the 2010 Census form asks 10 questions and takes about 10 minutes to complete.
Completing the 2010 Census form will shape the future for you, your community and the country.
The U.S. Census Bureau is issuing a call to action for every resident:
BE COUNTED IN 2010!
